My words were cut off as a tall, Amazonian blonde nearly barrelled into me.

“Oh! You must be Georgina! I’ve been dying to meet you.”

I raised my eyes past Spandex-clad double-D breasts and up into big blue eyes with impossibly long lashes. A huge set of beauty pageant teeth smiled down at me. My moments of speechlessness were few, but they did happen. This walking Barbie doll was a succubus. A really new one. So shiny and new, in fact, it was a wonder she didn’t squeak. I recognized her age both from her signature and her appearance. No succubus with any sense would have shape-shifted into that!!! She was trying too hard, haphazardly piling together an assortment of pseudo male-fantasy body parts. It left her with a Frankensteinian creation that was both jaw-dropping and probably anatomically impossible. 

MSM Speaks: When one makes a come back, they start with their best (or so they think!) performances and in my kitty, the best reviews (loaded with sarcasm and not-so-subtle double entendres) are of the Young Adult Urban Fantasy Fiction genre (Yes, I cannot avoid them. They are like unhealthy junk food, they stick to you and swear to take you down with them!). So, if you remember any of my previous reviews about my Succubus Georgie, you can forget them and start like Tawny (The New Seattle Succubus), all squeaky clean and new.

So the plot starts with Georgie and Seth in a romantic relationship (You can figure that part on your own anyway), when Georgina starts to have unrealistically real dreams of becoming a mother and doing dishes and waiting for her man, the father of her child, while Sweet home Alabama plays in the background. For a fact, Georgie cannot procreate since she is a demon and second, the dreams leave her incredibly drained of her acquired (from the other men) energies. She seeks help from her mortal guide and old human friend, Erik who sends her to this ludicrous con man Dante - very powerful and very Dark, but who doesn't believe that our Georgie is a succubus. Story spirals ahead with Georgina truly trapped in the shit-hit-the-fan scenario, when she is stood up by a whole bunch of people. I sometimes don't understand that why Georgie doesn't use her Awesome powers. She just mopes like a normal woman. I tell you, it gets annoying! 

Unlike the previous two books, I found myself skipping pages in this one to jump to when the mystery-solving-searching-clues start, because seriously, I know Y.As appeal the most, to the teens with raging hormones, they certainly at some point of time, make me want to gag, Y.As that is, and not the teens. Exactly like in this third instalment. Don't take me wrong, I love Georgie, but there's only this much that I can take of the whole mortal-immortal love story. SO, I skipped to the mystery solving, which is pretty crisp and fast paced! There is a new immortal love story that helps Georgina to get out of the freaky dream scenario - also, as Georgina witnesses, how an Angel falls and becomes a demon. I loved that part. Finally, towards the end, she is saved by a whole bunch of Angels, Demons and Nephilliams but at the daunting cost of her personal life. Tsk Tsk. Richelle herself got bored after solving the mystery in this book.

Oh, and on a random note. I am in love with Carter. (Who you ask? He is an Angel and Literally, Georgina's guardian angel).

Especially when they are action packed - and I mean the kick-boxing and killing the hell out of someone, and not the kind that you thought instantly, you naughty you! Our lovely succubus Georgina (aka Georgie as Jerome calls her) is back in this second installment with more mysteries to solve along with the Holier Than Thou angle.

So, we know now that Georgie and Seth (the shy, nerdy, über famous mortal writer) are sort of dating, minus the whole physical thing which is a massive achievement for a succubus (Irony?), when Bastien who is the Oldest and the bestest friend Georgie has, arrives with a case to solve. Oh, and Bastien, is an Incubus! The said case is to attract Dana, a hypocritical socialite woman and check her in for eternal damnation. So Georgie plays Tabitha, who is Bastien's (Mitch) sister. As if the whole thing wasn't enough, Emerald Bookstore's manager Doug has been acting up weird off late. With super speed and a Rocking rock band, he is reaching heights which aren't possible to touch without an immortal interference. The plot proceeds with Georgina trying to help Bastien and discover a side to herself she has long forgotten - in her quest of loving a mortal. There may be perks of dating a writer, but the downside isn't very appealing, what with lack of attention and fragility. With Paige, her store manager, out for pregnancy and Warren on a world tour, Georgina has her plate overflowing. And there's that thing of corrupting mortal men.

Lines in relationships blur as Georgina eventually escapes into reality which is weirder than her supernatural life. When the mystery about Doug's behavior starts to get convoluted and a lot more people start getting affected, Georgina has to take a stand. Surprisingly, Carter - the not so angelic angel allows Georgie to look deeper into the matter. Emotions and Good Judgement collide and our lady might find herself a midst this new Godly storm brewing. Will she survive it or give up, to save a million lives?

Richelle has referred to Indian mythology as well as other sources which make her impeccable as a writer. In Succubus on Top, she tries to balance the emotional and practical feelings of a daemon, which is not easy while trying to maintain a literary finesse. MSM Recommends!

Sooooo, it’s been a while that I’ve been around. Life happened, few things good and a lot of things bad. But, I digress!

Richelle Mead’s first work that I read was Vampire Academy. And Georgina Kincaid Series, was a pleasant surprise as it was one of the first few racy Young Adult novels I’d read, much much before the subtle variation in the form of House of Night Series by P.C. Cast or Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead herself.

Getting to the reviewing, here's a trivia for you all! Now I am not sure how many of you are aware of this female demon called Succubus, but as far as my knowledge goes, they are Greek mythological demons who work together with Incubus. Now, Incubus – a male demon, in the olden times, was believed to impregnate women in their sleep. How did he do it? Well, ahem, from the semen given by the Succubus, which she collected by sleeping around with men, in their dreams. I am saving myself from the risk of sounding like a biology teacher, but you've got to figure out the math (or biology) here.

So anyway, Succubus Blues is about a beautiful and humane succubus called Georgina (AKA Thetis and Letha), who has to do the dirty for survival. She is serving a hierarchy like in any corporate world – but here, in Hell. Book One introduces Georgina’s multiple sides as a female as well as a Creature of hell. She can shape shift and satisfy any man’s wildest fantasy, although in return of a part of his soul – making him eternally damnable. The more a succubus feeds on any Good human, the darker and hollow the soul becomes – but more satiated and glowing the Succubus would feel. The lower the moral character (Oh, Irony) of the guy, the lesser the life force a Succubus can suck and the more chances of them to join the Hell league. There are Imps, Vampires, Angels (They aren’t there with a ring on their heads), Demons, Nephiliams and all the fantastical creatures draped in a human-like guise on earth plane.

Georgina had a tumultuous past while she was human and now, she seeks to find one true love, which her nature does not allow. She would end up killing any guy she loved, lest she even kisses him. She works at a book store and loves her white chocolate mochas as much as she loves dancing – in an attempt to bring some normalcy into her living. Enter: Seth Mortenson – Georgina’s favorite Author who is shy, geeky, nerd and someone, who crosses path with Georgina unexpectedly. Georgina’s world begins to spin as she worships this mortal Writer but having him around proves to be both test for her as a Demon and Succubus. Fighting with her feelings for a mortal, Georgina finds herself leaning more and more on Roman, an attractive intelligent linguistic professor, who provides much emotional escape to her. But there is something else happening and Georgina seems to be the reason. Her friends and people whom she had tiffs with, are dying while someone is constantly following her, leaving love notes with death threats on her door. A creature that could kill the ones she loves and the ones who love her, is lurking and seems to be taken by the Succubus.

In a constant battle for survival, Georgina has to ensure that she trusts the right person. Angels, Demons, Vampires and Imps are her friends, but one of them could be the one.

Brilliant character portrayal! One thing I like about Richelle is that her women are beautiful, strong, practical and capable of taking care of themselves. They are not your damsel in distress kinds. They can be demure and kick your ass at the same time. To visualize the situation of a woman ridden by guilt and damned for eternity, Richelle creates a niche for herself in all her works. It’s not your average steamy porn-ish young adult novel. Research makes this novel, worth one pick. Tidbits of history and contemporary observations make this a quick and interesting read. MSM Recommends!!!
